Torvien centres around a piece of Whitby jet, chosen for its deep, uniform black and natural lustre. Formed from fossilised wood over millions of years, jet is both lightweight and durable, with a smooth, almost velvety finish when polished.
 
The surface holds a rich, uninterrupted tone, allowing the form of the stone to take precedence, providing a strong visual contrast against the surrounding metalwork.
 
It is set in sterling silver, with a structured frame that follows the contours of the stone. Antler-like elements rise around the setting, accented with small 9ct gold details that introduce a subtle warmth against the darker tones.
